WWE Money in the Bank 2024 was live from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event includes Trademark WWE Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank Matches. The Bloodline will fight with Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. The hometown hero Sami Zayn defended his title along with Damien Priest, who had to go through Seth Rollins to stay champion. A surprise announcement and much more to focus on as we bring WWE Money in the Bank 2024 Results, Winners, Grades, and Analysis.
Men’s Money in The Bank Match
Jey Uso kicked off the Men’s Money in The Bank match with a superstar entrance that had fans buzzing. Despite an emotional day, as Jey’s uncle and Roman Reigns’ father was buried, he competed to honour his family’s wishes.
Andrade’s entrance received a muted reaction compared to the electrifying reception for Jey Uso. LA Knight brazenly walked under the ladder, adding a touch of superstition to the mix. This match, sponsored by The Boys and featuring Cody Rhodes as Homelander, was one of the most meta moments in WWE history.
Chad Gable and Drew McIntyre were among the standout performers. Gable locked McIntyre in a Figure Four arm lock atop the ladder, only for Andrade to break it up with a springboard leg drop. Carmelo topped this with a springboard clothesline on Andrade, who retaliated with an inverted Spanish Fly on Melo, drawing “holy s—t” chants from the audience.
Fans chanted “CM Punk” to provoke McIntyre, while Gable’s brief run had the crowd cheering and jeering. Gable impressed again with an ankle lock on Hayes between two ladders. Hayes responded by tipping over a ladder with McIntyre and Knight, then hitting Nothing But Net on Jey Uso.
Andrade and Hayes continued their rivalry, delivering a Canadian Destroyer through a ladder on Hayes. Just as Jey was about to secure the briefcase, McIntyre threw a ladder at him and grabbed the briefcase, setting the stage for a potential CM Punk return.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
Grade A
Analysis: Drew McIntyre is not the favourite to win the match, but he still won. Andrade and Hayes were the top stars of the match, as they delivered top moves. Uso is given enough hype in this event. Gable and Knight played their part well. CM Punk’s involvement is a guarantee in McIntyre’s Cash In Later because of his absence in this victory.
Sami Zayn vs Bron Breakker
Despite competing as the crowd favourite, Sami Zayn faced off against Bron Breakker. The atmosphere was electric, with fans either booing Breaker or showing support with chants. Breakker showcased his power throughout the match, notably hitting a blistering 23 mph clothesline, dubbed a “Steinerline” by commentator Corey Graves.
Despite being overpowered for much of the match, Zayn found moments to rally, which energized the crowd. The standout moment came when Breakker executed an impressive Frankensteiner, eliciting “this is awesome!” chants from the audience. Breakker attempted his signature 360 spears, but Zayn deftly evaded, leading Breakker to improvise with a flying clothesline that saw Zayn crash onto a table.
Sami Zayn secured the victory with his Helluva Kick in a surprising and somewhat controversial finish. This win adds to Zayn’s recent streak of unexpected victories, following his championship wins over Chad Gable and now Breakker.
Winner: Sami Zayn
Grade B+
Analysis: No one thought that Zayn would lose in Canada, and we also named him the winner in our Money in the Bank Predictions. However, WWE should protect Bron Breakker. The match was good, with a few misses from Zayn. Still, it is a good win for Zayn in front of his home crowd. It will be interesting now who he will face at SummerSlam. Will Breakker have his moment at the biggest part of summer?
John Cena Announces His Retirement
The emotional high point of the event was undoubtedly John Cena’s retirement announcement, orchestrated by Trish Stratus. The crowd’s reaction reached a deafening 111 decibels as Cena addressed them. Cena expressed his deep connection with Canadian fans, citing their unwavering support as the reason for choosing Canada as the place for his retirement.
Amid the audience’s chants of “no!” Cena tearfully confirmed his decision. He revealed that he would appear on WWE Raw on Netflix and participate in the 2025 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber, with WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas marking his final WrestleMania appearance.
Cena mentioned he would answer all retirement-related questions at the WWE Press Conference. Before leaving the ring, he shared a heartfelt moment with his wife, signifying the sincerity of his retirement announcement. There were no subsequent angles or interruptions, suggesting this could be Cena’s final bow in WWE.
Grade A
Analysis: End of an Era. Probably the biggest WWE Superstars announced his retirement from ring action. The good thing is that we will see the last of Cena in 2025. The Franchise Star has given it all for WWE during his two decades of career. Happy Retirement Year for John Cena!
Damien Priest vs Seth Rollins – A Wild Cash-In
Before the match, Damian Priest insisted that Judgment Day stay out of his bout. Despite Finn Balor’s sarcastic agreement, tension was brewing within the faction. Michael Cole highlighted that past winners like Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Kane, Dean Ambrose, and Bayley had all cashed in their contracts on the same night they won them—foreshadowing Drew McIntyre’s plans.
The drama unfolded when the referee halted his count just before three, with Priest’s shoulders flat on the mat. The missed cue for Drew McIntyre’s entrance music added to the chaos as he attempted to cash his Money in the Bank contract. However, CM Punk interrupted, thwarting McIntyre’s plans and allowing Damian Priest to secure a victory over McIntyre. This unexpected twist left McIntyre and Seth Rollins fuming, particularly Rollins, who lost a world title opportunity due to Punk’s interference.
Winner: Damien Priest
Grade A
Analysis: It was inevitable. WWE protected Seth Rollins and gave Priest the necessary win. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s never-ending story took centre stage once again. McIntyre must destroy CM Punk for all the lost opportunities. The interaction between Punk and Rollins aims at a triple-threat match at Summerslam if CM Punk is cleared for in-ring action. Priest will face Gunther for the World Heavyweight title at Summerslam.
WWE Women’s Money in the Bank
Chelsea Green received a hero’s welcome in her native Canada, donning Trish Stratus-inspired gear, complete with a cowboy hat. Despite her reception, Tiffany Stratton also garnered significant cheers. Naomi outfitted in Green Bay Packers colours, pulled off an impressive split-legged leg drop on Zoey Stark atop a ladder. Despite “Tiffy Time” chants, Stratton’s slow-motion field dive after climbing the ladder became notable.
Fans were on the edge of their seats as Stratton appeared set to seize the briefcase, only to be yanked from the ring. Green provided a comedic highlight by leaping for the briefcase sans ladder. The match’s standout moment featured Iyo Sky executing an awe-inspiring modified piledriver onto a ladder, prompting Stratton to send Green crashing through two tables and claim the women’s Money in the Bank briefcase. The bout was spectacular, leaving audiences in awe of its intensity and athleticism.
Winner: Tiffany Stratton
Grade B+
Analysis: WWE put Stark and Sky in the match to bring some high-flyer flavour. They did an outstanding job, along with Valkyria and Naomi. The character work Green showed in this match was spectacular. She should have won it in his hometown. However, it’s Tiffy’s time. We thought she should win the Queen of the Ring Tournament but could not. It’s time for her to shine as Miss Money in the Bank.
The Bloodline vs Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens
The Bloodline faced off against Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens in a highly anticipated matchup. Jacob Fatu made a memorable debut on the main roster by no-selling Randy Orton’s iconic draping DDT. Commentary by Corey Graves added to the drama, noting the notorious reputation of the Tongans.
The Bloodline dominated the initial moments, with fans loudly chanting, “We want Roman” and “Fight, Owens, Fight!” However, chaos ensued when a referee bump occurred just as Solo Sikoa was about to face defeat. Despite taking multiple finishers, Solo survived due to the absent referee. Kevin Owens’ Frog Splash on Fatu earned a “this is awesome” chant from the crowd.
Ultimately, The Bloodline secured the win through outside interference and a devastating Thumb strike on Cody Rhodes after Fatu miraculously recovered from a table spot.
Winner: The Bloodline
Grade B
Analysis: Solo Sikoa pinned Cody Rhodes with Samoan Spike, which means he will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Title at Summerslam. It was a wild run throughout the match. Fatu looked like a powerhouse. Loa had some dangerous bumps. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton showed their veteran moves. It was not a fan-favourite result. Still, it will be good for long-term storytelling.
