Greivis Josué Vásquez Rodríguez was born on January 16, 1987.He is a retired Venezuelan professional basketball player who participated in six seasons of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Presently he is employed in the coaching profession having most recently held the position of associate head coach with the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G League.
At many international competitions Vásquez has represented Venezuela as a member of the national squad. He was born in Caracas Venezuela but moved to the United States in 2004 in order to attend Montrose Christian School in Rockville Maryland from which he graduated from high school.
During his senior year at Montrose he made a commitment to play for Gary Williams the head coach at the University of Maryland and he committed to the school.
Following his completion of his collegiate basketball career at Maryland where he finished second all-time in scoring with 2,171 points he was selected in the draft in the year 2010.
During the 2007 FIBA America Championships Vásquez was a member of the Venezuelan team that competed. The other two Venezuelans that competed in NCAA Division I men’s basketball were David Cubillan of the Marquette Golden Eagles and Gregory Echenique of Creighton.
He was one of three Venezuelans who participated in the sport during his final college season which took place in 2009-2010.
