Ronald Fred Seikaly was born May 10, 1965. He is a Lebanese-American retired professional basketball player. Seikaly was one of the first foreign born players to have an influence in American basketball. Seikaly was regarded as one of Syracuse’s best collegiate basketball players.
His tremendous offensive and defensive abilities propelled him to the top of the school’s all time rebounds points and blocks records and he received numerous nationally recognized trophies and honors.
The Miami Heat selected Seikaly with the ninth overall in the 1988 NBA draft making him the franchise’s first selection in history. He went on to become one of the NBA’s best centers as well as the team’s top offensive and defensive player earning NBA Player of the Week twice and breaking multiple franchise records.
