WWE’s Move to Netflix Signals the Loss of Classic Wrestling Content
WWE fans in the U.S. have already seen a significant reduction in access to classic wrestling content. Fans worldwide may miss out as WWE makes a major shift to Netflix which is a rather concerning report in Latest WWE NEWS 2024.
Starting in January 2025, WWE Raw will be part of a multi-billion dollar deal between WWE and Netflix, marking a significant change in how wrestling content is delivered. Along with Raw, international subscribers will gain access to SmackDown, NXT, and premium live events as the WWE Network is phased out after a decade.
However, the transition to Netflix could spell trouble for fans of older wrestling content. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, only 40 WWE pay-per-views will be available when the move happens, and it seems unclear which other shows will make the jump to Netflix. Meltzer highlighted concerns that many classic wrestling events, including those from older promotions, may not be included in the switch.
Since WWE owns the tape libraries of several former promotions unless they find another way to distribute this content or decide to sell it, a lot of classic wrestling might not be accessible in the foreseeable future. This change could be a significant loss for fans hoping to revisit iconic moments from the past.
The Undertaker Would Never Take this particular Job in the WWE
As a wrestler near the end of their in-ring career, many transition to the commentary booth. While the success of these moves can vary, it’s a common path for those looking to stay involved in the business. Even injured wrestlers often find a place behind the mic, allowing them to remain visible to fans without taking bumps.
However, for The Undertaker, this wasn’t an option. As he approached the twilight of his in-ring career, he knew the announce desk was not in his future.
In a recent conversation about Vince McMahon’s notorious intensity with announcers, The Undertaker admitted that the backstage environment could get heated, with Vince often screaming at his commentary team through their headsets. Despite the chaos, he noted that everything was typically forgotten by the time the show wrapped. But for The Undertaker, the idea of being on commentary didn’t appeal—he just knew it wasn’t the right fit for him.
Although he’s not frequently seen on-screen anymore, The Undertaker plays an active role backstage, offering guidance to WWE’s current roster. Recently, Damian Priest shared how he regularly seeks feedback from The Deadman, who isn’t shy about providing candid and constructive advice.
Becky Lynch Shares Daughter Roux’s Surprising Thoughts on Wrestling
Becky Lynch hasn’t been seen in WWE since May 2024, when her contract expired shortly after her last match. While there’s been no official word on when she’ll return, reports suggest that Lynch has been actively working with WWE Creative on what comes next for her.
As a mother, Lynch’s daughter Roux has grown up around the world of wrestling, but it seems she’s not exactly a fan of the family business. During a recent appearance on Deck Yeah!, Lynch revealed that Roux actually hates wrestling.
This unexpected revelation adds a personal twist to Lynch’s career, especially as she prepares for WWE’s next big chapter, WWE Raw, which will premiere on Netflix in January 2025. With The Man expected to be back soon, it’ll be interesting to see how her journey evolves in and out of the ring as she balances her life as a WWE Superstar and a mom.
Kevin Owens Claps Back at Fans’ Halloween Joke Ahead of Big Title Match
Kevin Owens didn’t hold back after a fan on X (formerly Twitter) poked fun at his appearance, saying, “I’ve never seen someone say, ‘Mom, I wanna dress up as Kevin Owens for Halloween.'”
Owens, never one to shy away from a confrontation, fired back with a sharp reply: “How much time do you spend listening to (or watching, apparently) other people’s conversations with their mothers, you little weirdo creep? You’re a perfect example of the damage that hair bleach can do to someone’s brain over time.” His no-nonsense response served as a reminder of why Owens is one of WWE’s most outspoken and blunt superstars.
As Owens gears up for his upcoming championship match against Cody Rhodes, all eyes are on his next big move. The buzz around WWE intensifies with the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event, marking NBC’s first prime-time WWE broadcast since 2008. The event will be infused with nostalgia, thanks to the iconic Jesse “The Body” Ventura joining the commentary team, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already highly anticipated showdown.
