Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre (World Heavyweight Championship)
The show started with the World Heavyweight Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins. Both had special entrances. A Scottish band played McIntyre’s theme, while another colorful band played Rollins’ theme, wearing baggy clothes like The Visionary. CM Punk was on commentary for this one. It was Seth Rollins’ 316th day as the World Heavyweight Champion.
The match began with a sudden Claymore Kick from the challenger for a two-count. Rollins rolled out of the ring as McIntyre was preparing for another Claymore. Drew talked trash to Punk at ringside and went for a Future Shock DDT. Seth countered and landed a Pedigree on the floor. Back in the ring, Seth delivered a Stomp for a near fall. They exchanged forearms, and Seth hit a Superkick. Drew replied with a Glasgow Kiss and a neckbreaker. Seth delivered another Pedigree and a Stomp. McIntyre barely kicked out. The Crowd was fully into this bout.
McIntyre delivered the Future Shock DDT and signaled GTS while looking at CM Punk. Rollins countered the GTS, but McIntyre quickly hit another Claymore for a near fall. The action carried to the ringside, where Rollins stomped Drew on the commentary table. McIntyre quickly recovered in the ring and delivered a Claymore Kick. Seth again kicked out at two. An irate McIntyre landed another Claymore to capture the title and finally get his WrestleMania moment in front of live fans.
McIntyre went to the commentary table and talked trash to Punk. It infuriated the Best in the World, who laid out Drew with his arm brace. Damian Priest came out with the briefcase and attacked McIntyre with the briefcase. Damian cashed in the MITB contract. The bell rang, and Priest hit Drew with a South of Heaven Chokeslam. Priest pinned McIntyre to win the World Heavyweight Championship. He celebrated with the rest of Judgment Day on the stage.
Results: Drew McIntyre def. Seth Rollins. Damian Priest cashedin his MITB contract and won the World Heavyweight Title.
Grades: A
Analysis: It was an outstanding bout that ended with a shocker. Damian Priest has finally cashed in the contract. Drew McIntyre’s journey seems to be interesting in the future. But, it is good that Money in the Bank gets the respect it deserves. It was an outcome we discussed in our Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre possible outcomes. The match was great, as was the finish. CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre will headline the coming events for sure.
The Pride vs. The Final Testament (Philadelphia Street Fight)
Bubba Ray Dudley was the special guest referee for this match, and Snoop Dogg joined the commentary team. Lashley and Street Profits went for the tables early on. The Final Testament decimated them with kendo sticks. Karrion gave Booby a neckbreaker on a chair. AOP delivered the Super Collider to StreetProfits. B-Fab broke the pin with a kendo stick. Scarlett laid out B-Fab with a trash can. Lashley and Profits had an opening. Bobby hit a flatliner on Kross. Ford landed a flipping senton at ringside.
Lashley hit a spinebuster on Kross and trapped him in the Hurt Lock. Scarlett tried to interfere, but B-Fab sent her through the table. Paul Ellering helped Kross deliver a Doomsday Saito on Lashley. Kross was not happy with Bubba Dudley’s count and shoved him. Dudley pulled out his glasses. Lashley delivered a Spear to Kross. Ford landed a headbutt to the groin area of Kross. Dudley shouted, “Get the Tables!”.The first table gave out, and they grabbed another one. Ford crashed Kross through a table with a frog splash. Lashley pinned Kross for the victory.
Winners: The Pride
Grades: B+
Analysis: It was a fun match; hopefully, this story culminated with that Street Fight. They made it more of a WCW-type bout. A question remained: what will happen to the final testament after this?
LA Knight vs. AJ Styles
Knight arrived in a Slim Jim car. Styles hurried during his entrance and attacked Knight. The action continued at ringside where Knight bounced Styles’ head on the commentary desk. AJ delivered a leg breaker and a knee breaker. Knight delivered a springboard tornado DDT for a two-count. AJ bounced back with a GermanSuplex and a facebuster. Knight met Styles on the top rope and hit an inverted German Suplex for a near fall.
AJ trapped Knight in the Calf Crusher, but he escaped. At ringside, LA Knight exposed the floor. AJ delivered a backbody drop to the exposed floor. Knight barely returned to the ring to escape count-out. Styles attempted Phenomenal Forearm and Styles Clash in the ring, but Knight avoided it. In the end, Knight delivered a BFT to secure the win.
Winner: LA Knight
Grades: B
Analysis: It was a decent clash. AJ lost clean, which was a bit of a surprise. It is a huge win for the LA Knights. WWE must give LA Knight the main event spot, which he deserved from last year. The result was the same as predicted in our WWE WrestleMania 40 Predictions.
Logan Paul vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens (US Title)
The United States Champion Logan Paul entered in a mega 6-wheeler truck with a Prime cannon on it that set up the fireworks. Kevin Owens entered on a golf cart. Later, Owens drove back and had Orton with him on the cart. KO and Randy attacked Paul in the beginning. Both delivered back suplexes to the champion on the commentary table. The confusion happened between Orton and Owens when it was time to pin Logan. Randy attempted RKO on Kevin. Both began to fight, and Logan landed a double Buckshot lariat. Later, KO went for a Swanton Bomb, but Logan got his knees up. Logan delivered a Swanton Bomb to KO and rolled over to hit a splash on Orton.
Later, Randy delivered double-hanging DDTs. KO delivered a Code Breaker to Randy and a senton to Logan. Kevin delivered a huge power slam off the top rope, followed by a moonsault for a near fall. Orton landed RKO, but KO somehow kicked out. Owens rolled out of the ring. Logan was behind Orton, wearing a brass knuckle. Randy ducks the first brass knuckle shot but could not save himself from the 2nd one. Paul covered Orton, who kicked out on 2.
The Crowd rallied behind Orton with ‘Randy Randy’ chaunts. KO entered and stopped Logan from hitting Randy with another brass knuckle punch. But Paul hit Owens twice with the knuckles. After that, he trash-talked Randy, who dropped him with an RKO. Orton handed the Brass Knuckles to the referee and set him up for a pant kick. Before he could hit, a man in the Prime Energy Drink costume pulled Logan out of the ring. The person behind the costume was ‘Ishowspeed.’
Ishowspeed shoves Orton and, in reply, gets a kick. Orton cleared the table, removed his Prime Energy costume, and hit him with an RKO over the announce table. Paul grabbed Randy, hit him with the ring post, and then took him to the ring. Owens entered the ring and hit Paul with a pop-up powerbomb. KO grabbed Randy and hit another pop-up powerbomb, this time on Orton. Orton kicked out at two again.
KO again tried to hit Randy with the 2nd pop-up powerbomb, but Randy delivered an RKO out of nowhere. Before he could cover, Paul sent Orton to the ring post. Logan Paul climbed up the turnbuckle and hit KO with a frog splash for the victory.
Winner: Logan Paul
Grade: A
Analysis: It was an outstanding match to write about in our WWE WrestleMania XL Night 2 Results. All three participants showed their class. Logan Paul emerged as equal to Orton and KO on the big event. No matter how he took this win, the guy has the ‘it’ factor to stay in the WWE as our United States Championship. The future of Orton and KO will be a big challenge for WWE management.
Bayley vs IYO Sky (Women’s Championship)
Bayley had a special entrance like an Egyptian Goddess. Sky entered the ring dancing with her Damage CTRL partners. The match started with a few lock-ups and shoves in the ring. Bayley and Sky rolled out of the ring and traded blows. Iyo hit her opponent on the apron and sent her back to the ring. Bayley stopped a suicide dive that gave her some time to recover.
Bayley replied with a top suicide that earned her a near fall. A baseball slide followed from Bayley, but Sky dodged a sliding dropkick. Sky attacked Bayley’s legs. Bayley tried to fight back but ate a Dragon Screw. Iyo Sky remained Dominant for the major portion of the match. After a punishing stomp to the stomach, Sky tried to pin Bayley, who was kicked out. Then, they traded blows at the ringside.
Bayley countered and crashed Sky into the barricade. A spin buster on the floor followed as Bayley managed to get the upper hand. Bayley returned to the ring and had a near fall on Sky. Bayley kept attacking Sky and tried to get down here with different moves. Bayley climbed to the top rope for an elbow drop, but Sky replied with Shotie Pal Strike. Bayley collapsed to the ringside. The genius of the Sky delivered a huge moonsault to Bayley. Bayley got back to the ring and hit Sky with a dropkick.
Some moves were exchanged between the competitors before Bayley sent Sky head crushing with a Sunset flip. Another near fall waited for Bayley, who could not down her opponent. Sky recovered and hit some German suplexes to Bayley. Sky climbed up the top to hit her finisher, but Bayley got her knees up. Sky counters an elbow with a cross-face. Bayley rolls up but gets back to another cross-face. Iyo Sky tried STF, but Bayley countered with a Bayley to Belly for a close fall.
Bayley went for a Rose Plant, but Sky countered. After some blows, Iyo hit a double under hook backbreaker. Sky hits her signature moonsault, but Bayley kicked out at 2. Sky then hit a standing moonsault followed by a 2nd rope moonsault. She climbed to the top rope for 3rd moonsault, but Bayley countered. Bayley tried another rose plant but Sky again countered. In the end, Bayley hits a lariat, a back suplex, and then with her signature elbow drop. Bayley hit the rose plant for pinfall.
Winner: Bayley
Grade: B+
Analysis: It was a superb ending to a long story. Bayley deserved this title after working so hard in the last few years. The match was superb. If WWE gave it five more minutes, no one could stop it from becoming one of the best Women’s matches ever.
Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes (Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match)
Cody Rhodes entered with her wife, Brandi Rhodes. Reigns marched towards the ring with his wise man. An orchestra band played Reigns’ theme. They started like a classical wrestling match with holds and takedowns. Cody brought a table, but Roman put it back with a chorus of boos from the audience. Reigns brought a kendo stick and destroyed Cody with it. Rhodes applied the Figure-Four Leg lock, but Cody fought out of it. Reigns delivered a sit-out powerbomb. Reigns yelled at Cody that this was his company. Roman hit a Fisherman’s Suplex for a near fall.
Cody fought back with a series of punches and delivered a power slam. Rhodes hit a Springboard Roundhouse for a two-count. Roman caught Cody and delivered the Cody Cutter for another near fall. Cody hit a Bionic Elbow in tribute to his father. At ringside, Roman sent Cody through the table with a powerbomb. Back in the ring, Rhodes landed a Cody Cutter. Cody avoided the Rock Bottom and delivered a Spear for a near fall. Cody hit a Cross Rhodes and went for another one, but Jimmy Uso came out of nowhere and superkicked him.
Jey arrived to take out Jimmy. Both men fought on the entrance ramp, and Jey speared Jimmy off the stage through some tables. In the ring, Roman speared Cody for a two-count. Reigns applied the Guillotine Choke but Cody escaped out of it. Cody speared Roman through the barricade into the timekeeper’s area. In the ring, Cody delivered two Cross Rhodes. Solo Sikoa interfered on the third one and hit Cody with a Samoan Spike. Sikoa pulled Reigns and put him on Cody for the cover. Somehow, Rhodes kicked out.
John Cena appeared out of nowhere. He delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Reigns in the ring and one to Solo through the commentary desk. The Rock arrived and came face-to-face with Cena. He laid out Cena with a Rock Bottom. Seth Rollins came out on Shield’s theme but suffered a Superman Punch. The Rock was in the ring, and we heard The Undertaker’s gong. Undertaker appeared behind Rock and delivered a Chokeslam before disappearing.
After this, Cody delivered three consecutive Cross Rhodes and pinned Roman Reigns to end his 1316th-day Title reign. Cody is the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Rhodes celebrated with his family, Triple H, John Cena, CM Punk, Sami Zayn, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, and Seth Rollins.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Grades: A+
Analysis: It was a phenomenal main event to cap off the Greatest WrestleMania of All Time. Things are much more interesting from now on. Roman Reigns has lost the title after nearly four years. Cody has finally finished his story. Will WWE build the future without Roman Reigns considering Cody as the main star? Or Reigns still has something to do without taking any time off. Still, we have got the answer to the question, Will Cody finish his story?
