Allen made the transfer from Hungary to the United States when he was 12 years old. He went to Bishop Gorman High School in the United States. He chose Stanford as his alma mater and enjoyed playing for them from 2012 to 2016. After being named to the first team of All Pac-12 while still a redshirt junior Allen came forward to declare his intention to enter the 2016 NBA draft.
