    John Cena met former Rivals

The show opened with the Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena. The 17-time world champ made his entrance with the crowd chants of “Let’s Go Cena, Cena Sucks”, echoing through the arena. Cena said that the truth is a lie. He called R-Truth a comedy character who pretended to be John Cena to get over. John told the crowd that they wasted their energy by opening their mouths in Truth’s support. Cena said that a year later from now, the crowd won’t care for Truth.

Cena said he has 19 dates left in his retirement tour. He said that he beat every crowd favorite like Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and R-Truth. Cena wanted real competition now. CM Punk arrived to a thunderous crowd reaction. He told Cena to get comfortable because he had a lot of things to talk about. Punk said that he’s there to defend people as Cena wanted to ruin the thing that made him what he is today.

Punk replied to Cena’s line of not getting real competition by saying that he got the best in Cody Rhodes. Punk accused Cena of using shortcuts to win. Punk said that the title made Cena a monster, just as it did to him in 2012. Punk said that The Final Boss is not the boss, the fans are the bosses. They wanted R-Truth, they got him back. Punk vowed to take the title from Cena, aiming to dismantle thoughts of power and control of guys like Cena and Seth Rollins.

Punk said that he’d take the title, and Cena would pass the rest of his retirement tour by apologizing to the fans of the man he had become. Punk told Cena to pick any date for their match out of his 18 remaining dates. He was willing to do it right there, but Cena refused him and chose Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia happening later this month. Seth Rollins and company appeared on the stage. Rollins raised the MITB briefcase as a warning sign.

    Grades: A

Analysis: Wow! It was an amazing segment, a masterpiece from two of the greatest talkers in the wrestling industry. We are headed to John Cena vs CM Punk one final time. Seth Rollins’ arrival was great detailing as he made Cena aware that he could cash in at any time. It was a solid opening to the show and set the tone for the coming stuff.

    AJ Styles vs Chad Gable

    WWE RAW June 09 Results
    credit: WWE

Creed Brothers were at ringside for their master Gable. Styles landed a dropkick, but Gable responded with a T-bone suplex. AJ delivered a clothesline and a torture rack bomb for a near fall. Chad escaped the Styles Clash and landed a German Suplex followed by a top rope flying headbutt for a two-count.

Styles hit the powerbomb and went for the Styles Clash again. The Creed Brothers distracted. Styles handled them but Gable took advantage and applied the Ankle Lock. Styles rolled his ankle and caught Gable into a Styles Clash for the pin and the win.

    Winner: AJ Styles

    Grades: B

Analysis: It was a fun match. AJ Styles finally got a victory under his name. It looks like they have something planned with him and Chad Gable maybe in the Summer. Gable never wins while El Grande Americano has a good winning portfolio. Pat McAfee was on leave and Wade Barrett replaced him. It was fun listening to the banter between Michael Cole and Wade Barrett surrounding the El Grande Americano and Chad Gable story.

Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan vs Kairi Sane vs Roxanne Perez – Queen of the Ring Tournament

    credit: WWE

It was a first-round fatal 4-way match in the Queen of the Ring tournament. Liv and Roxanne teamed up to take out Sane and Ripley. Kairi landed a double head-scissor takeover on Liv and Roxanne. Rhea came back and delivered a basement dropkick to Kairi. Ripley attempted a Delayed Vertical Suplex, but Sane countered it with a blockbuster. Perez got dumped out with a backbody drop by Ripley while Morgan delivered a knee strike to Sane.

Perez saved Liv from Riptide. Morgan and Perez delivered a Codebreaker/side leg sweep combo on Ripley. Sane landed a sliding forearm on Liv as Ripley dropkicked Perez. Morgan fought back with a springboard Codebreaker on Ripley for a near fall as Sane broke up the pinfall. Kairi delivered an Alabama Slam to Roxanne. Morgan and Perez attempted a superplex on Sane on the top rope, but Rhea hit a powerbomb on them before eating a forearm from Sane.

Kairi delivered a wheelbarrow stunner to Ripley, but Morgan and Perez intervened for the save. Morgan hit a backstabber on Sane. Ripley recovered and hit clotheslines on Perez and Morgan before dropkicking Sane. Ripley avoided the Ob-Liv-Ion and delivered a Riptide to Morgan.

Raquel Rodriguez pulled Ripley out of the ring to save Morgan from getting pinned. Ripley and Rodriguez fought at ringside, and Kairi took them out with an In-Sane Elbow. In the ring, Sane delivered the In-Sane Elbow to Morgan. Perez broke up the pinfall and rolled Sane for the win.

    Winner: Roxanne Perez

    Grades: B-

Analysis: It was a decent fatal 4-way encounter. Perez and Morgan worked on their own story. They actually worked together mostly. Rhea Ripley was good with her performance. Kairi Sane was a little less smooth with her moves and looked awkward at times. Roxanne Perez has advanced in the Queen of the Ring tournament. Liv’s reaction to this will be interesting to see.

    Backstage

Gunther and Jey Uso were preparing for their match later tonight. Nikki Bella was backstage and talked to Natalya and Maxxine Dupri. Iyo Sky consoled Kairi Sane who walked away. Bella approached Sky and called her a great champion. Sky thanked her for paving the road for this generation.

    Becky Lynch’s Celebration was ruined

    credit: WWE

The newest WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch, made her entrance. Lynch wasn’t happy that the crowd didn’t chant “You Deserve It” for her. Becky said that they should celebrate her victory at WWE Money In The Bank 2025. Lynch recalled her accolades. She said that the title has got the opportunity to be in Big Time. Lynch said that she should be celebrating with her family but Valkyria ruined it.

Lynch called Valkryia a crazy bird lady and invited her to raise her arm tonight in the right way. Lyra walked down the ramp in fury. Lynch was waiting for her but got blindsided by Bayley. Lynch tried to escape but Valkyria sent her back in. Bayley attempted the Rose Plant, but Lynch escaped through the crowd. Bayley was fired up.

    Grades: B

Analysis: It was a good segment leading to the return of Bayley. Becky took her out for a spot at WrestleMania 41 Sunday. It looks like we will be getting Becky vs Bayley sooner than expected. Maybe, Lynch finds a partner to go against Lyra and Bayley in a tag match. Anyway, the Women’s IC Title scene is packed for the coming months.

    Ron Killings has arrived

    credit: WWE

A masked figure appeared that was revealed to be R-Truth. The crowd was roaring. Truth told them that they were heard, and he was back because of them. He said that he was back for the people as they wanted Truth. He said that Truth was funny and forgiving at times, but he won’t be. Truth pulled out a pair of scissors and cut her braid. He called himself Ron Killings and told everyone to put some respect on his name before leaving.

    Grades: A

Analysis: Holy sh_t! R-Truth or we should say Ron Killings is the hottest name in wrestling in a span of one week. The crowd loved this serious version of Ron. The anticipation is real for what’s to come with Killings.

    Backstage

Dom was preparing for his upcoming match. Finn Balor was there too with JD McDonagh. Roxanne arrived and she said that she saved Liv Morgan in the match. Balor was happy about Perez’s victory. Liv walked off in anger. Balor asked Dominik to talk to Morgan, but Dom refused and went ahead for his match. Elsewhere in a suite, Rollins with Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed warned both world champions and put them on notice.

Penta vs Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn vs Bron Breakker – King of the Ring Tournament

    credit: WWE

Mysterio escaped to the outside as the bell rang. Penta landed a tope con hilo on him. Breakker suplexed Sami, slammed Penta, and clotheslined Dom. Bron caught Penta and landed a belly-to-belly side suplex. Zayn threw punches at Breakker followed by Dom’s jawbreaker and Penta’s superkick. Penta landed a hurricanrana on Mysterio followed by a handstand corner slingshot dropkick. Penta blocked a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Zayn quickly changed it into a tornado DDT.

Zayn landed a springboard moonsault on Breakker at ringside. Penta hit a cross-body block on Sami. Dom charged and laid out Penta with a suicide dive into DDT. Breakker clotheslined Dominik from the apron and sent him over the commentary table. Back in the ring, Penta hit Mysterio with a powerbomb while Breakker landed a top rope Frankensteiner on Zayn.

Penta superkicked Bron followed by a DDT. Dom pushed him and tried to steal the pin, but Breakker kicked out at two. Mysterio delivered Two Amigos to Sami who countered the third one into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Penta landed a superkick on Sami followed by a Penta Driver. Mysterio broke the pinfall but ate a Mexican Destroyer for a two-count.

Breakker exploded Penta with a spear at ringside. Out of nowhere, LA Knight appeared and delivered BFT on Breakker. In the ring, Zayn hit Dom with an exploder suplex in the corner followed by Helluva Kick for the victory.

    Winner: Sami Zayn

    Grades: B+

Analysis: It was a good match. Sami Zayn has advanced which is great for him. LA Knight has got into business with Seth Rollins and his mates. Penta and Dominik delivered brilliant performances.

    Nikki Bella is back

    credit: WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella returned to Raw in her hometown. She thanked the fans and said that she missed Bella Army. Bella talked about WWE Evolution happening next month. She was part of the main event of the first-ever Evolution PLE. Nikki praised the current women’s division. She said that they have talents like Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Roxanne Perez, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia. Bella said that the women of the past are proud of the current regime.

Liv Morgan interrupted her. She said that Bella didn’t name the best woman and the most talented on the roster. She spoke about her achievements. Morgan said that Bella was jealous of her. Liv said that she has respect, a title, and a man, everything that Bella doesn’t have. Nikki asked her about Dom and Roxanne’s angle. Bella was leaving but Morgan called her a reality show diva. Nikki returned to the ring and Morgan laid her out with Ob-Liv-Ion.

    Grades: B+

Analysis: It was a fine segment. It felt old school to see Nikki Bella back in a WWE ring. Liv Morgan instantly made things personal by bringing Nikki’s private life. It looks like they are doing Liv Morgan vs Nikki Bella for Evolution.

Jey Uso (c) vs Gunther – WWE World Heavyweight Championship

    credit: WWE

The big fight fell in the main event where Jey Uso put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Gunther. Uso attempted the sleeper hold to which Gunther tapped out at WrestleMania 41 Saturday, but the Ring General escaped. Gunther landed a cross-body block. Uso was in pain around his taped ribs and Gunther further targeted the midsection. Gunther delivered the vertical suplex, but Uso responded with a German Suplex.

Uso attempted a suicide dive, but Gunther caught him and delivered a German Suplex of his own. Uso bounced back with an enzuigiri and a suicide dive. Gunther went for a splash in the ring, but Jey got his knees up. Uso landed a Spear and a Uso Splash for a near fall. Gunther prevented a second spear and delivered a back suplex into a backbreaker. The Ring General followed it with a Powerbomb for a two-count. Gunther smirked and crashed Uso with a Spear for another near fall.

Gunther hit multiple lariats. Uso fought back with another Spear. Gunther avoided the splash and applied a sleeper hold. Uso fought for a while as the crowd was YEETING. However, the champion faded, and the referee called for the bell. We have got a new World Heavyweight Champion in Gunther.

    Winner: Gunther

    Grades: A

Analysis: Wow! The world title has changed hands on a weekly show after four years. Gunther is the new World Heavyweight Champion. Jey Uso gave a good fight but the beatings in the last week got the best of him. Gunther’s last run was flat, and WWE should learn from their mistake of booking him. We hope that this isn’t Uso’s last main event run. He is a crowd favorite, and we should see him lurking in the world title picture at least for some time.

That’s it from an excellent episode of Monday Night Raw. What are your thoughts on WWE RAW June 09 Results?
