Saturday Night’s Main Event made its grand return to prime-time NBC, featuring a stacked card that included some of the biggest names in WWE. In WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Results, we will talk about the main event which saw Cody Rhodes seeking revenge and Owens looking for validation in a highly anticipated Undisputed WWE Title match. Drew McIntyre continued his path to destroy Bloodline as he took on the Honorary Uce, Sami Zayn. Gunther defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat match.
The event also featured some exciting surprises, including the return of Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Pat McAfee to the broadcast team. WWE legends Tito Santana, Rich Hering, and Jimmy Hart also appeared, sitting in the front row. Overall, Saturday Night’s Main Event delivered a memorable night of wrestling.
The show’s presentation was nostalgic, as it used colored ropes and a different entrance stage, and the referees wore retro blue shirts. Let’s take a look at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Results.
Drew McIntyre vs Sami Zayn
Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn kicked off WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event with an intense match. Zayn started strong with heavy punches, but McIntyre quickly regained control and delivered a series of chops. Zayn landed a slingshot moonsault block on the floor. Sami went for a plancha, but McIntyre caught him and sent him over the commentary table. The Scottish Warrior hit a belly-to-belly suplex and a spinebuster for a two-count.
McIntyre delivered a sit-out powerbomb for another near fall. Sami countered a Super White Noise into a sunset flip powerbomb from the second rope. Drew landed a Glasgow Kiss, but Zayn replied with a Blue Thunder Bomb. In the end, McIntyre emerged victorious, pinning Zayn after a devastating Claymore Kick. After the match, McIntyre declared war on The Bloodline, stating, “One down, four to go.”

Grades: B+
Analysis: Saturday Night’s Main Event started with a banger. Drew got the win in his first match since WWE Bad Blood 2024. The future seems interesting, with further showdowns between Drew McIntyre and The Bloodline.
Liv Morgan (c) vs Iyo Sky – Women’s World Championship
Referee Charles Robinson, equipped with the Ref Cam, oversaw the action in classic attire. The match began with Morgan quickly taking Sky down, but Sky swiftly kipped up. Iyo landed a dropkick and an Asai Moonsault to the outside. Sky hit a double stomp and did a double kip-up. Liv bounced back with a backstabber and a Codebreaker for a near fall. Morgan charged at Sky, but Sky quickly took control with a series of German Suplexes, including a third one with a bridge that earned her a near fall.
Sky headed to the top rope, but Morgan cut her off. Sky attempted a springboard but slipped, allowing Morgan to catch her with a codebreaker for a two-count. Sky went for an Over the Moonsault, but Morgan got her feet up. Morgan delivered Ob-Liv-ion for the pin and retained the Women’s World Championship.
After the match, Morgan was confronted by Rhea Ripley, setting up a potential future title match. Ripley had previously defeated Morgan’s ally Raquel Rodriguez in an Anything Goes match and had also pinned Morgan to win the Women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series.
Winner: Liv Morgan
Grades: B
Analysis: The match was intense, with Morgan suffering a possible nose injury after taking a knee strike to the face. Iyo Sky never misses and she delivered another brilliant performance. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan might face each other on Netflix’s first WWE Raw.
Gunther (c) vs Finn Balor vs Damian Priest – World Heavyweight Championship
The bell rang, signaling the start of the highly anticipated Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship, featuring Damian Priest, Finn Balor, and champion Gunther. After some back-and-forth action, Priest wiped out Gunther with an awkward somersault senton. Gunther dominated the challengers with multiple chops and boots to the faces. Priest laid out both Gunther and Finn with a double clothesline.
Damian landed a crossbody block on Gunther and a flatliner on Balor for a two-count. Balor delivered Sling Blade to Priest. Gunther applied a Sleeper Hold on Balor. Priest delivered South of Heaven and Razor’s Edge to Gunther. Balor quickly landed a Coup de Grace. Damian saved the match at two-count and hit a South of Heaven on The Prince. Gunther prevented the pinfall this time by pulling Priest out.
At ringside, Gunther wore down Priest with a Sleeper Hold, followed by a Powerbomb on the steel stairs. In the ring, Gunther delivered a Tyrannosaurus Dropkick followed by a Powerbomb and pinned Balor to retain his title.
Winner: Gunther
Grades: B+
Analysis: It was a great match, as you would expect from these three competitors. The finishing sequence looked awesome, with Gunther asserting his dominance. Gunther should move on now from Damian Priest and look for fresh opponents.
Chelsea Green vs Michin – Women’s US Title Tournament Final
The inaugural Women’s United States Champion was crowned in the tournament’s final between Chelsea Green and Michin. Both these superstars reached the final on Decemeber 13th episode of SmackDown. The match began with traditional arm drags and Green’s tactics. Chelsea distracted the referee, Jessika Carr, and Piper Niven dropped Michin. After the break, Michin returned stronger with a powerbomb and a couple of suplexes. Michin delivered a tornado DDT for a two-count.
Chelsea soon bounced back with a Rough Ryder for a near fall of her own. Michin laid out Niven at ringside with a cannonball and an Eat Defeat. In the ring, Michin hit an Eat Defeat on Green, who barely escaped the pinfall with her foot on the bottom rope. Ultimately, Green flipped off the second rope and delivered an Un-Pretty-Her for the victory. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis gave Green her championship as she celebrated with Piper Niven.
Winner: Chelsea Green
Grades: C
Analysis: Fans wanted this, and WWE delivered. Chelsea Green is the first ever Women’s US Champion. She earned it with admirable work in the last year or so. Kudos to Michin as well for making it this far in the tournament.
Cody Rhodes (c) vs Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship
Triple H’s mystery gift to Cody was actually what everyone expected. Cody Rhodes came out with the classic Winged Eagle Championship for one night only. KO teased Cody early on by escaping the ring. Rhodes had the answer as well, as he landed a suicide dive. Owens slammed Cody on the announcer’s table and said, “Hi Randy” to the camera. Kevin targeted Cody’s injured ankle and landed a senton. The Prizefighter teased the American Nightmare with a Stardust taunt and hit a DDT.
Cody also did the Stardust cartwheel, only to further damage his ankle. Owens delivered a Swanton Bomb, but Rhodes replied with a Bionic Elbow. Cody hit a snap power slam and a Disaster Kick for a near fall. At ringside, Rhodes delivered RKO on the top of the commentary desk. Back in the ring, Cody hit a Cody Cutter for another near fall. Cody put Owens on the top rope, but he suffered a Fisherman’s Buster.
Owens shoved Cody into the referee and delivered a Stunner. KO regretted laying out the referee as there was no one to count. Another referee ran down and counted, but Cody kicked out. This referee didn’t stay much as he suffered a Disaster Kick while Owens moved away. As the referee was down, Owens grabbed a steel chair. Cody caught him and hit a Cody Cutter. Rhodes delivered a Cross Rhodes onto the steel chair. The referee somehow got up and counted as Cody Rhodes retained his championship.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Grades: A-
Analysis: It was a fantastic match to close out the show. The retro vibe and the Winged Eagle Championship added to the memory of the match and the show. Looking at the match, it is clear that this story isn’t over yet. Jesse Ventura was fun to listen to, especially when he sometimes let his heelish side out and favored Owens.
