CM Punk and Seth Rollins Brawl to Start WWE Raw

    WWE News December 17

CM Punk enters and climbs onto the announce desk, declaring his promo will be fun for him but not for the audience. He threatens to get Raw canceled off Netflix and calls it a WrestleMania State of the Union address. He targets his enemies, starting with The Rock, calling him a bald fraud who thinks he’s above criticism. Punk mocks The Rock for pretending to care about wrestling while avoiding real competition.

He then shifts to John Cena, accusing him of stealing opportunities and failing to live up to his “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” motto. Punk claims Cena quit at Elimination Chamber and gave up on the fans. He vows to confront both The Rock and Cena, promising they’ll regret crossing him. Finally, he turns his attention to Seth Rollins, threatening to put him in a wheelchair.

Rollins interrupts, leading to a chaotic brawl. They trade punches on the stage, in the aisle, and near the ring, with security struggling to separate them. The fight spills around the announce desk, with Rollins attempting to leap over it. Security eventually drags Rollins up the ramp as Punk glares, ending the segment in chaos.

    Grade A

    Analysis

CM Punk was all fired up and ready to destroy anyone in his path. He criticized the Rock internvention in WWE matters as the Final Boss. Punk destroyed John Cena for his heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025. The brawl after the match was awesome as Adam Pearce later announced a steel cage match between the two for the next week.

Gunther vs Otis Non Title Match

GUNTHER mocks Otis during his entrance, calling him a freak of nature and a people pleaser who entertains a “degenerate” audience. He claims the crowd pities Otis and questions his self-respect. GUNTHER boasts about his World Heavyweight Championship, saying Otis couldn’t find a belt that fits. He promises to teach Otis respect and attacks him with a cheap boot to start the match.

The match is a hard-hitting battle, with Otis showing his power and resilience. He trades chops with GUNTHER and hits moves like the Caterpillar and a power slam. However, GUNTHER regains control, finishing Otis with a powerbomb for the win. Post-match, GUNTHER attacks Otis again, applying the Gojira Clutch until Akira Tozawa tries to make the save. GUNTHER overpowers Tozawa, but Jey Uso interrupts, spearing GUNTHER and clearing the ring.

Jey Uso fights off A-Town Down Under with superkicks and a spear. However, GUNTHER traps him in the Gojira Clutch, ending the segment with GUNTHER standing tall. The chaos sets the stage for future confrontations between GUNTHER, Jey Uso, and others. Jey USO will challenge Gunther at WrestleMania for the Title after winning WWE Royal Rumble 2025 match.

    Winner: Gunther

    Grade B+

    Analysis

Otis has a unique wrestling style that every WWE fan likes. He worked a solid match against Gunther, who always delivered in the ring. This match showed that Gunther can make any opponent good. On the other hand, WWE must give Otis some kind of push because he can carry himself in a high-pressure match. After the match, USO crashed the party as Gunther tried to attack Alpha Academy. The involvement of Theory and Waller will bring some excitement to the story.

Ivy Nile vs Lyra Valkyria for Women’s IC Title

    Credit: Wrestling INC

Lyra Valkyria and Ivy Nile engage in a hard-fought match, with Valkyria showing resilience despite a knee injury. Ivy targets the injured leg, using moves like a shin breaker and an ankle lock to wear Valkyria down. Valkyria fights back with quick counters, including a bridging Northern Lights suplex and a rolling solebutt, but struggles to maintain momentum due to her knee.

Ivy dominates mid-match, hitting a Liger Bomb and applying an ankle lock, but Valkyria reaches the ropes. Valkyria counters with a German suplex and back-to-back backbreakers, gaining control. Despite her injury, she rallies and finishes Ivy with her signature move, Nightwing, to retain the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

The match highlights Valkyria’s toughness and ability to overcome adversity, while Ivy Nile proves to be a formidable challenger. Valkyria’s victory cements her status as a resilient champion, but her injured knee may leave her vulnerable in future defenses.

    Winner: Lyra Valkyria

    Grade B-

    Analysis

The match was good showcase of athleticism from both women. WWE must book Valkyria more to defend the title against women who are not used properly in the main roster. Valkyria became the first Women’s IC Title winner but no of title denfences are very low.

Ludwig Kaiser Challenging Penta to a Match

    Penta's WWE Debut

Ludwig Kaiser cuts a promo, claiming Penta will know fear after their match. Suddenly, Penta runs down and catches him with a tijeras. He follows up with a superkick and attempts a Penta Driver, but Kaiser retreats to the apron.

Back inside the ring, Penta delivers a sidekick, setting up a Sling Blade. He skins the cat and executes a Frankensteiner, sending Kaiser to the floor. The action is intense as both competitors showcase their skills.

    Grade C+

    Analysis

Kaiser always delivers when he has a mic in his hand. However, this segment was short as Penta attacked him to set up a match for the future,

American Made vs War Raiders for WWE World Tag Team Championships

Erik and Julius start with a collar and elbow tie-up. They struggle around the ring. Creed ducks under, turning them around. A shoving match breaks out. Julius shoves Erik into the corner. He tags in Brutus, who delivers clubbing blows from the turnbuckles. Tags are made, and Ivar climbs to the second rope. Julius dropkicks him to the floor.

Brutus tags in and throws Warbeard into the steel steps. They go to break. After the commercial, they work over Warbeard. Erik tags in and throws Julius. He delivers a big Rock Bottom to Brutus. Julius back rolls into double knees, firing up Erik. Erik hits a running knee to the face and tags in Ivar. They execute an assisted power slam but only get a two-count. Erik is back in, and Brutus scores a near fall with clubbing blows. Julius tags back in.

Erik slips out, landing an elbow from the corner. Creed meets him with his right hand in the turnbuckle. A back-and-forth ensues. Julius attempts a moonsault, but nobody is home. He tries a shooting star press, but Ivar kicks out. The match breaks down as Ivar sandwiches Julius into the LED board with a crossbody. A tag is made. The War Raiders win by pinfall with War Machine on Brutus Creed, retaining the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

    Winner: War Raiders

    Grade B+

    Analysis

The Raw Tag Team Division needs this kind of solid in ring action and these two teams delivered. War Raiders and Creed Brother have big body structures but their in ring moves are fluent. They can work a great match even on their off day. War Raiders winning the match was a right call because they will surely bring the prestige back to the tag team titles. On the other side, Creed Brothers have a whole year to win the title.

Finn Balor and Bron Breakker Segment

Jackie Redmond interviews Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker. The interview is interrupted by Finn Bálor from The Judgment Day. Bálor talks trash, claiming he is untouchable in the ring. Breakker exits the stands and enters the ring, targeting Bálor. He is confronted by Carlito and Dominik Mysterio. Breakker wipes them out but finds himself on the defensive against Bálor. The champion recovers and chases Bálor off. He then levels Carlito, ending the segment emphatically.

Breakker’s path to WrestleMania involves Judgment Day. This situation may not appeal to everyone, but it’s a great utilization of the talent involved, especially in the absence of bigger storylines for WrestleMania. Bálor is a formidable opponent for Breakker. If Mysterio is added to the match, the tension within The Judgment Day will be heightened.

    Grade B

    Analysis

WWE do not have enough depth in the mid card because of the personal rivalries going on between most superstars. So, Breakker had to deal with Balor and the Judgement Day. Judgment Day put on a great show last year so they at least deserve a place at WrestleMania. It will be good to watch them fighting for the IC title. The tension between Mysterio and Balor will rise in the coming weeks.

Rhea Ripley vs Iyo Sky for Women’s Championship

    Credit: WWE

Bianca Belair is at ringside for this match. They start with a collar and elbow tie-up. SKY goes behind, performing a standing switch into a waist lock takedown. IYO applies a side headlock, then runs off the ropes for Tijeras. Ripley blocks it and hosses her up. They reverse into a victory roll, covering for two before going to break.

Back from the commercial, IYO delivers a dropkick. They exchange moves, searching for an armbar takedown. IYO gets an Asuka Lock! She hits Bullet Train and climbs up top, but Rhea cuts her off with a back superplex. The action continues, and SKY lands a moonsault. Ripley manages to get a foot on the ropes.

On the floor, IYO delivers a suicide dive, but Rhea catches her. They hit the electric chair facebusters onto the apron and announce the desk, leaving both women down in front of Bianca. Referee Jessika Carr begins counting. Ripley gets in at about four, while IYO makes it back at nine. Rhea shoves Bianca, who pushes her back. Carr, distracted, intervenes but allows the match to continue.

Ripley re-enters and climbs up top. She attempts Riptide, but IYO counters into an avalanche Frankensteiner. IYO then hits a diving moonsault. It’s over! IYO SKY wins by pinfall with the diving moonsault, becoming the new WWE Women’s World Champion. She celebrates while Ripley screams in disappointment.

    Winner: IYO Sky

    Grade A

    Analysis

Rhea Ripley is yet to beat IYO Sky in a WWE ring. It was a surprising outcome but still loved by many WWE fans because Sky is an outstanding performer. WWE’s direction to WrestleMania is now unclear because Ripley deserved to be a part of the title match. On the other side, Belair won the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match to get the title match at WrestleMania. It may leads us to a triple threat match. The ring action was brilliant for both of these women.
