Since the IPL’s inception in 2008, Royal Challengers Bangalore has desperately wanted to lift the trophy. The franchise has Virat Kohli as its integral player. Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad Analysis

After releasing Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood, and Harshal Patel, the RCB management hunted for some match-winning players in the mini-auction. Let’s look at the SWOT analysis of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Check out the in-depth Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad Analysis for IPL 2024.

Strengths

The batting lineup of RCB has been their strength for a long time. They have got considerable names in their batting lineup. The world-class batter Virat Kohli has been their integral player since 2008. He is also in top-notch form. Virat Kohli was the player of the tournament in the Cricket World Cup 2023 after scoring 765 in that World Cup.

They also have star batters Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, and Akaash Deep. Cameron Green is the best option as a finisher, as he can score quick runs. Rajit Patidar is an excellent batter for number 3, known for coming heavily on the bowlers. Here is the in-depth Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad Analysis for IPL 2024 as their strengths.

Weaknesses

RCB’s most significant weakness in IPL 2024 will be their bowling department. They released Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga ahead of the auction. The fans expected the management to go for quality bowlers, but they couldn’t. Royal Challengers lost the bid of Australian World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins.

But RCB has some excellent fast bowlers like Muhammad Siraj and Reece Topley. Siraj is a good bowler but inconsistent at times. Also, they don’t need a backup pacer for Siraj. RCB has sealed the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, and Tom Curran, but they do need help to rely on them. This is a major point for RCB to work on.

In the spin department, Challengers have Mayank Dagar, Karn Sharma, Himanshu Sharma, and Swapnil Singh. Karn Sharma hasn’t performed extraordinarily in the past five years, and the other spinners are inexperienced for the T20 extravaganza.

Opportunities

It is a do-or-die situation for out-of-form cricketers in the IPL 2024. The 38-year-old wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Kartik has struggled to perform and score runs since 2023. He can contribute with his cricketing skills and save his IPL career.

The Kiwi pacer, Lockie Ferguson, has looked disastrous with his ball in the last two IPL seasons. Ferguson has the opportunity to prove himself and do his job efficiently.

Cameron Green was traded from Mumbai Indians for a whopping price before the auction. He has the opportunity to prove his trade as a worthy trade, play great cricket with both bat and ball, help the Challengers to win their maiden title, and secure his spot in the RCB for years.

Threats

RCB’s decision to retain Dinesh Kartik threatens the team’s performance in IPL 2024. Although he is a good option for the lower middle order, the batter couldn’t perform for the past two seasons. The veteran player’s retention came as a surprise to RCB fans.

Expectations from RCB in IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore was a favorite to win the title every season but ended the campaign disappointingly. Fans argued that their favorite team got rid of key players like Hazlewood, Hasaranga, and Harshal but failed to recruit quality bowlers, which is now their biggest weakness. With several loopholes in the RCB squad, Cricket critics expect another disappointing season from the team. After looking at Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad Analysis for IPL 2024, RCB has a very tough chance to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2024.
