On 31st May, ICC completed its ICC Board Meeting. There were a few crucial decisions made during that meeting. The most important decision that came is that Pakistan has got the first-ever hosting rights of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Pakistan will host theWomen’s T20 World Cup 2028, as the 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup will start on 12th June in England.
It will be the first-ever T20 World Cup hosted by Pakistan. Pakistan hosted the Men’s Cricket World Cup in 1996 and the Champions Trophy in 2025. ICC T20 World Cup 2028 hosting will boost the confidence among the Pakistan women’s cricket team. Pakistan and New Zealand were the only remaining sides among all the top 10 sides that had never hosted the T20 Women’s World Cup.
Expected Venues for T20 Women’s World Cup 2028
Now it is way too early to say anything about venues for the T20 Women’s World Cup 2028. But Pakistan has developed a top-quality stadium which can host a major tournament like the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028.
The big cities of Pakistan, like Lahore and Karachi, will definitely get the chance to host the T20 Women’s World Cup 2028. Including Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad can be decided to host T20 World Cup games.
Till now, India has hosted the Women’s T20 World Cup at 8 venues, the most venues used by any country to host this tournament. Pakistan has hosted the vast majority of international games in these 5 stadiums, which can get the oppounity to host the event’s game.
India’s Decision to Play Their Games
Indian women’s cricket team has never visited Pakistan for any international games. And in the ICC Board meeting, it has been decided that India will play their games of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028 at a neutral venue.
After border tensions and internal conflicts between the two countries, especially in 2025, things have become tougher between India and Pakistan. India has played the Champions Trophy 2025 and the Asia Cup 2023 games at neutral venues. While in the Champions Trophy 2025, India played all its games in Dubai Cricket Stadium, while in the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo.
In contrast, Pakistan played its T20 World Cup 2026 games in Sri Lanka. Pakistan women’s cricket team also played their Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 games in Sri Lanka. So, to make this decision clear, India’s games will be hosted at a neutral venue.

Pakistan women’s cricket team’s performance in ICC Tournaments is always below par. Pakistan women’s cricket team has never reached the knockout stage in ICC tournaments. But the T20 World Cup 2028 hosting will give the Pakistan women’s team new courage to be the best team of the tournament.
