WWE SmackDown Analysis
It was an absolute cinematic segment as you expect from The Bloodline. It also reminded about old times when these kinds of segments happened on weekly basis. Building to WarGames at Survivor Series, Reigns, Usos and Sami will take some time to get along. It was good to see Solo and company to not interfere here.
Bayley vs Candice LeRae
The first match of the night was Bayley against Candice LeRae. The Poison Pixie assaulted Bayley on the apron and landed a dropkick in the ring. Bayley responded with a clothesline. Bayley hit LeRae with a side slam for a near fall. LeRae tried to cheat and rolled Bayley as the referee was distracted. Instead, Bayley took the advantage and pinned Candice for the win.
Winner: Bayley
Grades: C
Analysis
It was a decent match which fainted as there was no story behind it. LeRae’s partner Indi Hartwell was released by WWE recently. It was a bit weird to see Candice without Indi.
WWE SmackDown Kevin Owens destroyed Randy Orton
Randy Orton entered the ring in fury and called out Kevin Owens. KO slowly walked to the ring as security tried to stop him. On the other hand, Orton was blocked by security too. KO got through security and hit Randy with a low blow. Owens went on to hit a vicious Piledriver on the Apex Predator. Randy was completely out and taken away on a stretcher. Cody went to the hospital with him.
Grades: A
Analysis
Brilliant stuff here as KO established himself as the biggest villain in WWE SmackDown right now. He will be eyeing Cody Rhodes now. Michael Cole and Corey Graves did their job well in explaining what happened. They said that piledriver is banned because it’s too dangerous.
Pretty Deadly vs DIY
In a backstage segment, Ciampa wasn’t happy with Gargano’s friendly behavior towards Motor City Machine Guns. The match began and Ciampa came strongly. He threw Wilson into the timekeeper’s area. Ciampa sent Prince into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Gargano wanted the tag but Tomasso ignored. Ciampa delivered Fairy Tale Ending on Prince and pinned him for the victory.
Winners: DIY
Grades: C
Analysis
Ciampa made a short work of Pretty Deadly. He looked strong and serious. On the other hand, Pretty Deadly have just been a stepping stone for other tag teams. They have aa lot of potential and must be utilized well.
Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill vs Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton
Next up was a bout for the Women’s Tag Team Titles as champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defended against the WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax and Miss Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton. Early on in the match, Tiffany slapped Jade which angered The Storm. Cargill laid Stratton out with a fall away slam. Nia tagged in the match and landed a Samoan Drop on Jade. Cargill’s power was on full display as she suplexed Jax. Belair delivered a suplex and spear on Stratton followed by a spinebuster.
Jax and Tiffany landed a modified blockbuster on Belair. Jax covered but Cargill prevented the three-count. Candice LeRae got involved in the match as she tripped Bianca off the top rope. Naomi came out to even the odds. There was a brawl at ringside between Naomi and Candice which later involved Jade and Nia too. In the ring, Belair hit Tiffany with a KOD to win.
Winners: Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill
Grades: B-
Analysis
It was a fun match. Jade Cargill has improved very well in the ring. It looks like that this will lead to six-woman action as Naomi and LeRae interfered in the match.
The Motor City Machine Guns vs A-Town Down Under
The WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships were on the line in this match. The match began with quick tags. Theory and Waller used their dirty tactics to get the upper hand. They dominated Shelley for some time. Finally, Sabin tagged in and landed multiple dropkicks. Sabin delivered a suicide dive through the ropes and took out A-Town Down Under. Waller got a bit momentum with a flatliner. However, it wasn’t enough to stop the champions. MCMG delivered their finisher Skull and Bones to retain the titles.
Winners: Motor City Machine Guns
Grade: B
Analysis
Motor City Machine Guns looked great throughout the match and WWE SmackDown Universe has started to connect with them slowly. Theory and Waller have had enough in the tag team division. Both need to go their ways in a singles title quest.
Nick Aldis unveils Women’s United States Title
In a video package, Nick Aldis unveiled the new Women’s United States Championship. He said that it will be earned. It looks good to have a new mid-card title for the women’s division. However, it will always be a question if there are enough storylines to tell around this title.
WWE SmackDown Tribal Chief Acknowledgment Ceremony
Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline entered the ring. Solo told fans to acknowledge him. Before he could talk much, Roman Reigns came out. Solo told Reigns to acknowledge him. Roman said that he is here to challenge him to a one-on-one match where the winner will be called the only Tribal Chief. Solo said that he is already the Undisputed Tribal Chief. Sikoa told Reigns to find his men that can go to war. Reigns understood that Solo is talking about WarGames.
Roman said that Solo only has four people to his side. Zayn came out and Solo laughed considering Zayn on his side as the fifth member. The Bloodline started ambushing Reigns. The Usos came for the save. The action went to the ringside. Reigns and Solo were in the ring and Solo was preparing for Samoan Spike. Sami caught Solo’s attention and Sikoa invited Zayn to the ring. Solo ordered Zayn to hit Reigns. Instead, Zayn landed a Helluva Kick on Solo. Roman laid out Fatu with a Superman Punch. Sami followed it up with another Helluva Kick.
Reigns crashed into Solo with a spear. All four men raised their fingers in the sky. The Original Bloodline is back. The crowd roared as the show went off air.
Grades: A
Analysis
The Bloodline drama kicked off and ended the show as well. The OG Bloodline is back and we are headed to WarGames. It will be interesting to see if both teams find fifth members. Solo’s work is quite underrated in the past few months and he keeps on improving.
