On 31 August, WWE went live from the Uber Arena in Berlin for the WWE Bash in Berlin. It marked the first-ever WWE PLE hosted by Germany. The show featured multiple championship matches and a gruelling encounter between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Let’s take a look at the WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 Results and discuss everything that happened on the show.
Undisputed WWE Championship
Cody Rhodes (c) vs Kevin Owens
WWE Bash in Berlin premium live event kicked off with Cody Rhodes defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens. The crowd was electric and equally chanted for both competitors in the match. We were at a stalemate in the beginning, with both superstars countering each other’s moves. Owens landed a cannonball at ringside. Cody hit a Disaster Kick on the apron followed by a suicide dive. KO managed to escape the Figure Four Leglock.
Kevin landed a Frog Splash on the ringside area. Owens hit an Atomic Drop. Rhodes soon replied with another Disaster Kick. Cody delivered the Cody Cutter for a two-count. KO hit a Fisherman’s Neckbreaker and a rolling Fisherman’s carry for a near fall. Owens kicked out of a Cross Rhodes. From the top rope, KO landed a twisting Brainbuster. Rhodes barely kicked out. At one point in the match, Owens had a chance to hit his brutal apron powerbomb, but he was unable to pull the trigger on a friend like Cody.
Kevin countered a Cross Rhodes into Stunner for a near fall. In the end, The American Nightmare retained with a Cross Rhodes.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Grades: A
Analysis: It was one hell of a match to kick off the first-ever WWE PLE in Germany. Cody and Kevin gave their all in the ring. Wade Barrett pointed out that KO has lost the killer instinct. That’s why he hasn’t been a World champion since 2017. KO’s heel turn was expected but didn’t come. However, this story looks far from over.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn (c) vs Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill
The match’s story revolved around how Fyre and Dawn prevented Jade from being tagged in the match. Belair’s vertical superplex was nice. Fyre and Dawn dominated Belair with multiple kicks. Fyre delivered a tornado DDT. Dawn hit a front suplex. Bianca finally landed a back suplex and tagged Cargill in. The Storm brought the storm into the match and delivered a Spinebuster and a Fallaway Slam. In the end, Belair and Cargill hit a DDT/German Suplex combo to regain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Winners: Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill
Grades: B
Analysis: The match looked dull at times. Both teams tried well, but it didn’t work out. Belair and Cargill regained the titles, which many thought they shouldn’t have lost in the first place.
Strap Match
CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre attacked CM Punk during his entrance shenanigans. Drew destroyed Punk at ringside before the match started. Punk hardly did anything in the first few minutes. Surprisingly, Punk’s first big move in the match was GTS. Punk didn’t touch the corners. Instead, he prioritized beating the hell out of Drew McIntyre. We saw the use of a steel chair and table. Punk was bleeding from a cut on his left eye.
McIntyre landed a vicious Claymore Kick. Both competitors prevented each other from touching the last corner. McIntyre lifted Punk on his shoulders and started touching corners. Drew was unaware that Punk was sneakily touching the corners, too. It was a good spot. McIntyre pulled out the bracelet and wore it. He then delivered a Claymore. The Scottish Warrior started touching corners. Punk pulled him on the last one and hit a GTS.
Punk hit another GTS and started touching corners. Punk delivered two more GTS in between touching the corners. In the end, he grabbed the bracelet off of McIntyre’s hands and touched the last corner for the victory.
Winner: CM Punk
Grades: A-
Analysis: There was great storytelling throughout the match. Punk got the victory as we predicted in our WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 Predictions. They are now 1-1 against each other, and a third bout is surely coming.
Mixed Tag Team Match
Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley vs Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan
After some running away by Dom, Priest laid him out with a big boot. Rhea Ripley entered the action and got a thunderous ovation. She landed a dropkick and a Fallaway Slam on Liv. Mami trapped Dom in the head scissors in the corner, drawing arguably the biggest reaction of the night. Dom tagged in again, and Priest taught him the hard way. Morgan’s interruption allowed Dominik to take advantage. Mysterio hit a Slingshot senton bomb. Morgan slapped Priest. The Archer of Infamy delivered a Broken Arrow to Dominik.
The Terror Twins landed stereo Razor’s Edge. New Judgment Day interrupted. Priest took out JD McDonagh while Mami slammed Carlito face first on the apron. Liv took advantage of the distraction and slammed Ripley into the barricade with a sunset flip powerbomb. In the ring, Balor hit a Sling Blade on Priest. Dom went on to land 619, and a frog splash for a nearfall.
Morgan hit a Springboard Codebreaker on Ripley. Priest wiped out the Judgment Day at ringside. In the ring, Mami hit a Riptide and pinned the Women’s World Champion for the win.
Winners: Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest
Grades: B+
Analysis: The crowd was red-hot for this match. The Terror Twins are definitely the future of the company. Ripley will now possibly demand a shot at the Women’s World Championship as she pinned Liv Morgan. Priest and Balor might have a program next.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Gunther (c) vs Randy Orton
Ludwig Kaiser did the introduction for the World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. They both wrestled for an upper hand before Gunther began his chop fest. At ringside, Orton delivered four back suplexes on the commentary table. Orton targeted the right arm of Gunther and landed a Snap Powerslam for a two-count. Randy landed the draping DDT and prepared for RKO. The Ring General countered it into a German Suplex.
Gunther landed a dropkick and a splash for a two-count. Gunther was successful in delivering a Powerbomb in the third attempt for a near fall. Randy countered a Powerbomb into RKO. The former 14-time World Champion looked to add another world title, but Gunther kicked out. At ringside, Orton sat upstairs near the German commentary table and slammed Gunther through the table with a back suplex.
The last couple of minutes were spent on the mat as Gunther applied a sleeper hold on Orton. The Viper tried to escape with different tricks but was unsuccessful. At last, Orton passed out, giving Gunther probably the biggest win of his career. Both competitors shook hands after the match.
Winner: Gunther
Grades: B+
Analysis: A technically solid main event match to close out the show. The match was a traditional Randy Orton match at a slow pace. Gunther exceeded in his career with this win and the crowd was electric for the home guy.
