Punjab Kings have bought eight players in the IPL auction 2024. With Harshal Patel their costliest buy, they have also opted for Chris Woakes and Rilee Rossouw. Let’s start our Punjab Kings SWOT analysis. 

Strengths

Punjab Kings have star-studded batters in the squad, which will be their main strength for the league’s 16th edition. The batting lineup has the likes of Shikar Dhawan, Rillee Rossouw, Sikander Raza, Jonny Bairstow, and Sam Curran. These players have played a lot of international cricket and will look forward to enhancing the team’s performance through their cricketing skills. 

The other strength of the PBKS squad is their quality match finishers. Cricketers like Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma can finish the game in style. These cricketers can play match-winning knocks. Along with Sharma and Livingstone, Sikander Raza and Sam Curran are excellent choices for lower middle-order batters. In the absence of Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, the new addition to the squad, also plays considerable knocks.

Opportunities

Jonny Bairstow has the opportunity to take the team home after ten years. The veteran English batter could play mighty knocks along with Shikhar Dhawan at the top and stabilize their struggling campaigns from the past few years. His performance would earn him a permanent spot for years. 

Threats

Punjab Kings have many English players in the squad for IPL 2024. England cricketers like Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Chris Woakes, and Sam Curran’s performance in Cricket World Cup 2023 was awful, which ended England’s World Cup campaign in the round-robin stage. The Kings’ overreliance on English players can cost them the IPL 2024. 

Expectations from Punjab Kings in IPL 2024
