    From being the only player in Texas A&M history to get unanimous All-American honors to nailing “The Shot” and being selected eleventh overall in the NBA Draft in 2007. Acie Law stands out among all of the former Student basketball players.

    Due to the fact that he regularly kept the Aggies in close games and completed surprise with game winning plays that were impossible his actions in the last minutes of games became expected.

    He holds the distinction of being the only player in the history of the school to have his number retired to have won the Bob Cousy Award for the best point guard in the country and to have received the Chip Hilton Man of the Year Award.

    As a senior he led a team that finished with a record of 0-16 with the worst record in the Big 12 in his debut year to the Sweet 16 of the tournaments.

    Could John Beasley have been eligible for four years he would have become the owner of all of Bernard King’s records that were already in existence.

    While playing at Aggieland Beasley averaged two doubles by scoring 21.8 points and grabbing 10.8 rebounds over the course of three seasons.  His two best seasons in which he averaged 27.8 points per game in 1966 and 25.8 points per game in 1965 earned him the title of SEC Player of the Year. In both of those years he took the lead in scoring for the conference.

    In addition, he is the owner of five of the top nine single game scoring efforts all of which have scored more than forty points.

    It is possible that his ability to shoot from beyond his range will be the moment that people remember him the most. On three different occasions he was made a member of the All Big 12 team.

    He led the nation in three point shooting percentage in 2007 which was another way that he contributed to boosting the visibility of the Top 10 ranked Aggies on a national level. In 2007 he led the nation in three-point shooting percentage.

    Having 796 field goals achieved throughout the course of his career. Vernon Smith owns the record for the most field goals scored by Texas A&M basketball in terms of both field goals and winning.

    In addition, he concluded the season with an average of 14.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game which placed him in the position of being the second leading scorer in the entire club’s history.

    Smith received an additional four All SWC accolades for his outstanding performance.
