Top 5 Players to Pick in Platinum Category for PSL 9

The planning for Pakistan Super League season 9 is in full swing. So, some high-class players are expected to become the top 5 players to pick in Platinum Category for PSL 9. The PSL 9 draft will be held on 13th December in Lahore. In the last eight editions, many T20 cricket superstars have played in the PSL. Chris Gayle, Shan Watson, Kiven Peterson, Ab de Villiers, Brendon Mccullum, and many other T20 cricket legends have played in the PSL.

A total of 46 players are registered for the Platinum category in the PSL 9 draft. All six teams will look to get these new players. Who will take these players in their teams? Here are the top 5 players to pick in Platinum category for PSL 9.

Romario Shepherd

Romario Shepherd is an all-around T20 player of the West Indies. Karachi Kings picked him in PSL 2022. He did not participate in that PSL due to injury, but every franchise will look to get him on their team this time. He scored 921 runs and took 39 wickets in 42 T20 internationals. He has played in several T20 leagues all over the world. He has good experience in T20 cricket. His recent all-around performance in T20 internationals looks promising. Romario has won many difficult matches for the West Indies. 

Maheesh Theekshana  

Theekshana is a Sri Lankan spin bowler. He has been a regular member of the Sri Lankan team in white bowl cricket for 3-4 years. Theekshana has the honor of representing the Sri Lankan team in the T20 World Cup 2021 and 2022. Maheesh Theekshana got 38 wickets in 38 matches for Sri Lanka.

He also has scored 974 runs in T20s for Sri Lanka. He is well experienced in T20 leagues. PSL franchises always need world-class spinners in their team. Maheesh Theekshana can be a perfect option for them. Maheesh will play its first-ever PSL if he gets picked in the PSL 9 draft.   

Reece Topley

The Islamabad United team picked Topley for PSL 8, but he has withdrawn from the competition. Now, Reece Topley has registered his name for PSL 9. Reece played 22 international T20s for England, taking 22 wickets in the process. Batting in the lower order, he scored 649 runs for England.

Reece Topley could be the best choice for the PSL franchises to add him to their team. He is an experienced player in league cricket. He has played in every major T20 league. In 2022, he played seven T20s series between Pakistan and England, which was played in Pakistan.   

Kyle Mayers

Kyle Mayers is a very powerful player. He did the duty of opening the innings for West Indies in many matches. Kyle scored 550 runs in T20 internationals. He was on the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup in 2022. He has massive experience in T20 leagues. Many West Indian players have played in PSL. Kyle Mayers fulfills the requirements of many PSL franchises.

Teams like Karachi Kings did not retain any player in the Platinum category. They will surely pick Kyle in their squad for PSL 2024. Karachi Kings has Sharjeel Khan in their team as an opener. Karachi’s opening slots will become very dangerous if they get Kyle on their team.  

Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard has played 43 PSL matches. Pollard has shifted many teams in PSL. It was the first time Pollard played for Karachi Kings in PSL 2017. He played for Peshawar Zalmi in 2019 and Multan Sultan in 2021-23 PSL. Pollard is one of the most experienced players in T20 Cricket. Kieron has scored 910 runs in PSL. He is also very dangerous with his bowling.

He is the most experienced player in league matches. He played in every major league of the world. Kieron can win the game from impossible situations. He did this in the past. He is the second player in T20 matches to hit six sixes in an over.
