The West Indies squad contains genuine talent. But their ODI record in recent years has not been consistent enough to maintain the rankings position required for automatic entry.
The result means West Indies miss out on direct qualification and will have to earn their place through the World Cup Qualifier. That qualifier takes place in February and March of 2027. West Indies are expected to qualify through that route but must go through additional games to earn their place.
Who Still Needs to Qualify

Where Will the Matches Be Played
The tournament is jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from October 4 to November 21, 2027. Twelve venues have been confirmed across the three nations. South Africa hosts eight of those venues. Zimbabwe hosts three. Namibia hosts one.
