The much-anticipated RAW after SummerSlam happened on August 04 at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. The show featured the fallout from the Biggest Party of the Summer. The biggest winners of SummerSlam, like Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, appeared on the show. The Rusev and Sheamus trilogy happened, as did much more. Let’s discuss everything that happened on the show and find out WWE Raw August 04 Results.
Seth Rollins’ Celebration
The show kicked off with Seth Rollins, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam in a moment called “Ruse of the Century“. Rollins appeared with Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. Heyman started talking and called himself a humble Oracle. He pointed at Breakker and called him the Future and the Big Dog of WWE. Reed was next with Roman Reigns’ shoes still tied around his neck. Heyman called him the Tribal Thief with Shoe-la Fala.
Heyman said that Reigns hasn’t been champion for 1.5 years. He said CM Punk won the title and celebrated like his wedding, but Rollins crashed the party. Heyman announced Seth Rollins as the reigning, defending, undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. Rollins took the microphone and told the crowd, “Shame on you, Brooklyn”. He said shame on everyone who doubted him after WrestleMania and turned against him. Rollins noted that everyone taunted him with “OTC” and “CM Punk” chants, but who’s the champion now?
Seth said he always had Plan B, which he told Paul Heyman and Becky Lynch only. He named the faction “The Vision”. LA Knight came down to a loud pop from the crowd. Knight said that he had the answer to why Rollins had faked an injury. Knight said that he wanted to take Seth’s dignity at Saturday Night’s Main Event by hurting him. Rollins faked an injury to protect himself from the beating.
Knight said he was the last person to beat Rollins and would be the next. He challenged Seth to a match for the World Heavyweight Championship right there and then. Rollins hyped the crowd like he accepted the challenge, but then turned it down. Raw GM Adam Pearce made the match official as Rollins’ punishment for lying to him and the medical team. He also banned Breakker and Reed from the ringside for the match.
Grades: B+
Analysis: It was a brilliant segment to open the show after SummerSlam. The faction got the name and will be called “The Vision” under the leadership of The Visionary. Seth Rollins’ reign has just begun, and the excitement is real now. LA Knight cut a decent promo here to get the crowd going.
Backstage
The Judgment Day was backstage, where Dominik Mysterio said he celebrated his twenty years last night by beating AJ Styles and retaining the Intercontinental Championship. Finn Balor and JD McDonagh said they never doubted him. Balor asked Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. They said that they will regroup. LWO was there, and Dragon Lee challenged Mysterio, who accepted. AJ Styles came there and said he’d come for Dom until he has the title. Mysterio told AJ his time is running out because he’s getting old.
Sheamus vs Rusev
Both men threw wild punches at each other before Sheamus delivered a pair of clotheslines. At ringside, Rusev smashed Sheamus into the barricade. Rusev delivered an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Rusev dominated Sheamus before the Celtic Warrior landed a White Noise from the middle rope. Sheaamus hit the Irish Curse Backbreaker and the 10 Beats of Bodhran. The action spilt to the ringside, where Sheamus slammed Rusev on the commentary table. Rusev returned by throwing him into steel steps.
Rusev tried the 10 Beats of Bodhran but stopped when the crowd started counting. Sheamus took advantage and delivered the Beats. The chaos ended up in a double count-out. Rusev attacked Sheamus with the steel steps. Sheamus bounced back with a Brogue Kick. They fought to the backstage as the officials tried to separate them.
Winner: Double Count-Out.
Grades: B
Analysis: It is always fun watching Sheamus’ matches. This match series continues and will probably end up in a stipulation match somewhere. Both men are getting valuable TV time, and there’s nothing better than that.
Penta vs Grayson Waller on WWE Raw August 04 Results
Grason Waller approached Adam Pearce backstage to demand a tag team title match for New Day. Instead, he himself got into a match against Penta. Waller tried to tease Penta in the match, who responded with a hurricanrana. New Day appeared and joined the commentary team. Waller bounced Penta off the commentary desk and landed a clothesline. Back in the ring, Penta hit a reverse Slingblade and a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a two-count.
Penta landed the slingshot shotgun dropkick, but Waller responded with a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Both competitors traded superkicks and clotheslines. In the end, a Mexican Destroyer earned Penta a win. New Day confronted him after the match. Penta took out everyone at the ringside with a somersault senton.
Winner: Penta
Grades: B-
Analysis: It was a fun battle between Penta and Grayson Waller. It was to feature Penta on TV and give him a win to stay relevant. New Day is a must-watch TV show, and its segments are hilarious.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair have party crashers
The new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss made their way to the ring. A faint “You deserve it” chant had Charlotte moved. She said it felt incredible to be a champion once again at SummerSlam. Bliss corrected her, saying, “We are the champions, again.” The two began recapping their accomplishments before they were interrupted. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez of The Judgment Day came down the ramp. They demanded a rematch, which Adam Pearce gave.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair (c) vs Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
Judgment Day dominated before Bliss turned the tide with a head-scissors takedown on Perez. Flair tagged in and delivered multiple clotheslines. Charlotte landed a flying hurricanrana off the middle rope. Rodriguez and Perez double-teamed on Flair as Perez landed a suicide dive. Flair responded with chops and tagged in Alexa. The champions hit basement dropkicks for a near fall. Bliss hit a Satellite DDT, and Flair landed a cross-body on her opponents. Charlotte followed up with a big boot to Rodriguez and a fallaway slam on Perez.
After a kip-up, Flair connected with a top-rope moonsault for a near fall. The challengers took control with a combo of a big boot and a side leg sweep. Roxanne hit a top-rope hurricanrana, followed by Raquel’s slingshot corkscrew elbow. Suddenly, referee Jessika Carr received instructions from the back and told Flair to tag in Bliss. Short on time, Bliss entered the ring and delivered Sister Abigail on Perez for the victory.
Winners: Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss
Grades: C
Analysis: It was not a good match or promo either. The match had an abrupt ending. They were clearly short on time and gave instructions to the referee for a quick finish. The promo looked bad, and the crowd was quiet for most of it. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are getting cheered by the fans. They are big stars and must be booked carefully to avoid anything wrong with the friendship story.
Dominik Mysterio vs Dragon Lee
Dominik Mysterio slapped Dragon Lee to start things off. Dragon responded with a clothesline and a suicide dive. Lee landed a running kick, but Mysterio responded with a slingshot senton bomb for a near fall. On the apron, Dragon hit a DDT. Lee delivered a slingshot basement dropkick and a flying forearm for a two-count.
Lee hit a sit-out powerbomb for another near fall before delivering a double stomp. Three different persons impersonating El Grande Americano appeared on the apron. This allowed Mysterio to get the win. AJ Styles rushed to the ring, but Mysterio retreated.
Winner: Dominik Mysterio
Grades: B-
Analysis: It was a fun match. Dominik Mysterio is gaining momentum before AAA’s TripleMania. What they are trying to do with the El Grande Americano story is unclear, but it looks interesting.
What’s next for Becky Lynch
The Man came around to Brooklyn with her new theme song, which debuted at SummerSlam. Lynch said Lyra won’t get any other title opportunity until she has the women’s IC title. Becky said that she’s looking for new stars to challenge her so that they can share the ring with the greatest female wrestler of all time. Nikki Bella interrupted her. Bella agreed with Lynch that she’s the greatest. Nikki said she thought she left the women’s division in great hands, but Lynch turned out to be a disappointment.
Bella said Becky came back because she couldn’t make it into Hollywood. Lynch mentioned her movie Happy Gilmore 2 and said she got Nikki’s role cut from the picture. Nikki said that Lynch is a liar like her husband. The difference is that people bought Rollins’ lie but don’t care about Lynch. Becky called herself and Seth the greatest wrestling couple of all time. Lynch said Nikki could have said the same, but she can’t see him anymore. Bella challenged Lynch to a match. Lynch punched her and left.
Grades: B
Analysis: It was a solid promo segment between two of the veterans. Lynch is an attraction and is undoubtedly one of the greatest ever to do it. Bella’s plan was hindered because of Liv Morgan’s injury, but she now has her sights set on the women’s IC Title.
Seth Rollins (c) vs LA Knight – World Heavyweight Championship
Seth Rollins’s lackies are barred from the ringside. Knight delivered a vertical suplex and a clothesline. Knight landed a swinging neckbreaker and a back body drop over the top rope to the outside. Seth used cheap tactics at the ringside and hit a front suplex. Rollins delivered a flatliner and climbed to the top rope. Knight met him there and hit a superplex for a near fall. Knight continued with a side leg sweep and a neckbreaker.
Rollins bounced back with a jawbreaker and a Buckle Bomb. Knight avoided a Stomp and delivered a DDT and an inverted Death Valley Driver for another near fall. In the end, Seth removed the pads on the floor and exposed the concrete. As he looked to stomp Knight on the concrete, CM Punk arrived from the crowd and attacked Rollins. Knight wasn’t happy with Punk. Seth tried to escape, and Punk chased him.
Breakker crushed Punk with a spear. Reed held Knight in the ring so that Bron could hit a spear. Rollins stomped both Punk and Knight, and The Vision stood tall. Out of nowhere, Roman Reigns arrived. The OTC delivered a Superman Punch to Reed and drove Breakker into the steel steps. Rollins held the title in the ring and called out Reigns. As Roman entered the ring, Rollins rolled out.
The numbers game got the better of Reigns. Rollins stomped him, and Breakker delivered a spear. Reed landed three Tsunamis on Reigns and took off his shoes again. The Tribal Thief did it again and now holds two Shoe-la Falas. Adam Pearce got in the face of Rollins. The Visionary raised the World Heavyweight Championship in the air and posed as Raw went off air.
Winner: Seth Rollins via DQ.
Grades: A
Analysis: It was a brilliant ending to an otherwise average show. The Vision is now getting established after Rollins’ world title win. CM Punk and Roman Reigns are slowly getting to the same point. It will be interesting to watch in the coming weeks, as it is rumoured that Roman Reigns will go on a break again. It looks like the beatdowm from tonight’s show will keep him out for weeks now.
Overall, it was a good show, but still dull, considering the scenario we’re coming from. SummerSlam was a banger, but Raw was average. Only the final segment of the show delivered. What are your thoughts on WWE Raw August 04 Results?
