A member of the National Basketball Association (NBA) for sixteen seasons Silas played for the St. Louis Hawks, the Atlanta Hawks, the Phoenix Suns, the Boston Celtics, and the Seattle Supersonics.During his three seasons with the Bluejays Silas had a scoring average of 20.5 points and a rebounding average of 21.6 per game.

    As a result of an injury his average number of points scored per game dropped to 18.5 during his final season. In spite of this he had an average of 21.8 rebounds. 1964 was the year that he led the team in rebounding and the team decided to retire his number 35.
